Meet Description

This in an All Points, Ability, mixed gender meet.   Advancement and points will be allocated in the traditional Short Track Speed Skating format.  

Skaters 10&Under will skate 200m & 400m heat and final. 

Skaters 11&Up will skate 500m & 1000m heat and final.

Skaters will :

CHOOSE YOUR OWN SUPER FINAL ON YOUR CLUB ENTRY FORM

Skaters can choose from:

300m, 800m, 1500m on 100m track or 1500m on 111m track

We recommend:

·      300m for 10&U and/or those with a 400m over 60 seconds

·      800m for skaters with 400m between 55-60 seconds

·      1500m on 100m track for those want to prepare for CYST

·      1500m on 111m for skaters with 400m under 55 seconds

We reserve to right to modify a skaters Super Final choice (for example if there is low subscription in a distance).

Ribbons will be presented for top 5 skaters of each distance skated.

Medals will be awarded to top 3 in each grouping.

Special Awards will be given to skaters that show the greatest percentage improvement in their 200m & 400m or 500m & 1000m during the meet.

The events will be skated in “reverse order” – with the youngest skating first (so they can end their day earlier) and the oldest (Alpha) skating last.

We hope to have e-timing in place for the event.

Skater Eligibility:

All Ontario Skaters – Club or Competitive Skaters, cradle (under 5)

Club entries will be prioritized by geographic proximity* to Milton to a maximum of 120 skaters.  

Acceptance Order is: Milton, Oakville, Brampton, Hamilton, Toronto, Cambridge, Vaughn, KW, Niagara, Markham, Newmarket, Durham, Barrie, London, Kwartha, Quinte, Kingston, Sudbury, St.Lawrence, Ottawa, Gloucester, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay.

In order to provide equitable access to all skaters, clubs are asked to limit entries to 20 skaters per club.   Skaters above the 20 limit per club will be waitlisted and added to the event if there is capacity using the same geographic proximity method.

Out of province skaters may be accepted at the clubs discretion.

Skaters with OSSA Qualifying times for Short Track Canada Cups (i.e.

Female: 55.00 sec in the 500m; 45.00 sec in the 400m

Male: 51.00 sec in the 500m; 43.00 sec in the 400m) 

OR skaters that qualified for OWG will be waitlisted and only accepted into the meet if there is capacity after all other skaters have been accepted.

*(based on “as the crow flies” distance calculate from OSSA club data and Google Maps)

Clubs are asked to submit the following times for skaters of each age:  

Cradle : N/A

Ages 5-10 : 400m

Ages 11+  :  500m 

Check In:

7:15am to 7:45am, Banquet Room near customer service desk.   

Please check in by Club only!

Warm Ups:

8:00am – Subject to change based on registrations

Warm up bikes and designated warm up area will be provided 

Do not use common/shared spaces in the arena for warmups

Do not use walking track unless you have paid for admittance (minors must be supervised on the track)

8:30 AM – Banquet Room

Entry Fee:

$70 per skater or $175.00 per family (3 or more)

Cradle skaters; no charge 

Cheque payable to: Milton Speed Skating Club (one cheque per club)

No individual entries accepted.

Entry Deadline:

January 12th, 2022 at 11:59pm.

Late entries may be accepted at the cost of double the entry fee. No refunds after the close of all entries. No exceptions including medical circumstances.

COVID Procedure

Masks are mandatory for everyone inside Milton Sports Centre;

When on the ice, skaters will be able to remove or pull down their masks;

Vaccine Passports + Valid ID for everyone 12 and up required to enter the building;

Everyone in attendance must be fully vaccinated

There is no food service in the arena.  Please plan accordingly.
